Ed Freeman - Developing a Modern Data Platform in Microsoft Fabric

Summary

What does a modern data solution look like in the Microsoft Cloud? Relational databases have all but disappeared from the blueprint of a modern analytical platform. Instead, we have new paradigms to get our head around, such as Lakehouses and the Medallion Architecture. However, the guiding DevOps principles of application development are just as important in data solutions, and implementing those principles doesn’t need to be a complex task.

About this event

In this session I'll walk through developing an end-to-end scenario (from defining goals, architecting the "Lakehouse" solution, all the way through to operational monitoring), touching on many elements required to engineer a robust and scalable solution in Microsoft Fabric - Microsoft's brand new data platform "to rule them all". We'll be using public Land Registry data provided by the UK Government to drive the demos, which comprises just shy of 30 million rows of House Price Paid data from the last 30 years.
