Women in Tech Hampshire returns on Wednesday 7th October 2026 as we explore what it means to be Working in the World of Data.

Data is shaping more of the world around us than ever before, and with the rapid growth of AI, the people working with it have an increasingly important role to play. But what is it actually like to work in data today? Where does data sit within the wider world of tech, and what could the next few years bring?

We'll be joined by a brilliant panel of professionals working in data: Anna Selway, Kat Holmes and Dr Kieran Ingram. Between them, they'll share their own experiences, what drew them to the field and what they've learned along the way. We'll talk about the skills that really matter, how AI is changing their work, where they see opportunities growing, and why a successful career in data isn't necessarily all about technical skills.

Expect an open and inspiring discussion, plenty of practical advice to take away, and the chance to meet and connect with others from across the Women in Tech Hampshire community.

Meet the panel:

Anna Selway
Anna is a Staff Analytics Engineer at Monzo, and builds resilient, scalable foundations - like data models and pipelines - that provide high-quality trustworthy data to the entire company. She is a technical leader, who leads diverse teams of engineers, data professionals and product teams to deliver great customer service to Monzo customers.
Anna’s journey into data and technology was unconventional. Initially trained as a classical singer, she became fascinated by the intersection of traditional music theory and computer science, specifically the idea of computationally extracting musical features based on traditional theory - such as harmony and rhythm - to calculate and recommend musical similarity.

Kat Holmes
Kat is a Data Director at Siemens Energy, with extensive experience in data and technology leadership. Her work spans data and AI readiness, strategy, innovation, governance and operating models, with a strong focus on helping organisations build the foundations and culture needed to make better use of data and AI. She is passionate about the people and culture behind successful data transformation, as well as creating diverse and inclusive teams within the industry.
Alongside her corporate career, Kat is a keynote speaker on data leadership, AI and diversity and inclusion. In 2021, she founded MenopauseX, a Women in Data® data-for-good initiative that takes a data-driven approach to understanding (peri)menopause in the workplace, with the aim of improving the health and wellbeing of menopausal women and trans/non-binary people.

Dr Kieran Ingram
Kieran is the Head of Data Insights and Analytics at Maritime and Coastguard Agency, and has spent the past 15 years using data and analytics to help organisations tackle complex problems and make better decisions. After completing a PhD in Computational Chemistry, she began her career at the intersection of academia and industry in an engineering consultancy at Imperial College, where she quickly discovered that understanding stakeholders was often just as important as the technical work itself.
She is particularly drawn to complex problems where data, strategy and real-world decision-making collide, and where analytical judgement matters as much as technical expertise.
